Windows Of The Mind
Windows Of The Mind
windowsOfTheMind was inspired by some patterns and colors from the 1960's. It was in part a coding exercise to figure out how to create complex path objects, shapes that have pieces cut out of them. In this example a rounded rectangle is cutout by an internal rounded rectangle. This window-looking compound shape becomes a "tile" that is tessellated to produce a layer. My intention was to create an image with depth made out of layers of shapes that you could look through.
Most of the time the background is a randomly colored and oriented gradient, occasionally white or a random solid color. The first (back-most) layer is comprised of solid rounded rectangular shapes. These could be our deep thoughts or memories always in the back of our mind below consciousness. A variable number of subsequent overdrawn layers of window shapes ,semi-conscious thoughts, use controlled randomness to produce variations in the numbers, sizes and placements of the shapes. To me, this composition is a visual metaphor for the mind.
Other than the background, the window shapes are colored using a limited palette, 6 "psychedelic" colors shuffled and randomly assigned to a layer. Each instance of the image is mind blowing. Lots of 60's vibes, a throwback to when self-discovery and introspection by expanding your mind was common practice.
As a suggestion, for a complete flashback experience make sure you play the song "The Windmills of your Mind" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEhS9Y9HYjU) when you are picking out an image to mint.
Enjoy the trip.
